Raleigh Area Tennis League
The Raleigh
Area Tennis League is a weekday evening
mixed doubles league. The competition
will be divided into various league levels with
players using the National Rating Program as a
way to determine which league to participate in.
There will be
teams from city parks as well as clubs and
subdivisions. In the past, there have been
existing park leagues as well as leagues
involving inter-club play. RATL is
an attempt to unify these leagues in the hope of
offering expanded competition and increased
participation. Matches will be played on
city park courts, club courts, or on any site
where a team entering the league can guarantee
access to three lighted tennis courts for home
matches on the evening of the league level in
which they wish to participate.
Match Schedule
and Format:
A team match will consist of three doubles
matches. Each match will be two out of three
sets with twelve point tiebreakers played at
six-all.
All three matches will be
played at the same time. Matches will begin
play at 6:45 PM.
Team Format:
Players should form their own teams with players
at the appropriate level. Six players are
needed to play a match. There is no maximum
limit of players on a team roster. It is
recommended that each team have at least seven
players.
Any player wishing to participate who does not
have a team should contact Millbrook Exchange
Tennis Center to have their name placed on the
list of interested players. Teams needing
additional players to fill their rosters can use
this list as a resource. If enough players are
on the list at a particular level, we will try
to form new
teams. Players may put their names on
the list by calling Millbrook Exchange Tennis
Center at 872-4128. There is not a registration
fee to get on the list.
