Foam Ball League
(Ages 6-10)
First match - June 27th
Orientation - June 13th at Optimist Park (Sanderson High
School’s courts)
Form your own team with a minimum of 4 players or sign up to join a
team. Format consists of teams coached by parents using a short
court and foam balls. One practice a week and one match on Saturday
mornings @ 9 am. Two courts needed, use your own or use one of the
City sites.

City of Raleigh Summer
ProgramsThe City of Raleigh offers tennis programs
for Adults and Juniors. Clinics, Tennis Ladders, Cardio Tennis, Ladies
Quads, and Free Play for Seniors are just a few of the great tennis activities
available this season. Clinics times are offered throughout the year for your
convenience.
Summer Brochure
Programs begin the week of May 4th and the daytime kids programs start the week
of June 15th!

Jimmy V Racquets for Research Tennis Tournament
August 15, 2009
Raleigh Racquet Club
The 4th Annual Jimmy V Racquets for
Research tennis tournament will gather together
tennis enthusiasts from around the Triangle for
a chance to play with the pros on an
unforgettable day of fun and philanthropy.
2001 Men’s Doubles Wimbledon Champion and
Collegiate Tennis Hall of fame Inductee, Don
Johnson returns as the celebrity host of this
event.
Schedule: Warm-up Clinic with the Pros:
8:30-9:30 am
Round Robin Play/ProAm Play 9:30-12:30 am
Lunch and ProAm Exhibition: 12:30 pm
Events: Men’s Division: 4.0+, 3.5, and
2.5/3.0
Women’s Division: 4.0+, 3.5 and 2.0/3.0
Registration: This is a rain or shine event.
Cost per doubles team is $200, which includes a
t-shirt, breakfast, lunch, and a gift bag for
each participant. Players must be 16 years of
age or older.
ProAm Division play allows participants to
compete with the pros for $2,500 per team with
spots limited to four teams. ProAm play begins
at the same time as the Round Robin, 9:30am.

USTA Junior Futures Tournament
The Raleigh Tennis Association sponsored the 3rd
Annual USTA Junior Futures Tournament on
June 5th-7th at
Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center. With 237
participants, including an
"8 and under" Quickstart Division,
this is one of the most successful Futures
Tournaments in North Carolina..
Congratulations to all players who played this
weekend! A special congratulations to Joshua George (pictured
below) who won the sportsmanship award and a new
racquet from MyTennisNetwork.com. Keep up the
good sportsmanship!

RTA Adopts Two
Local Schools
The RTA, along with NC Tennis, partnered
with local schools and held a QuickStart
meeting and demonstration for our P.E.
teachers. As part of our 2009 community
outreach program, we adopted two
schools, Douglas Elementary and
Millbrook Elementary. These schools
were eligible for "free" QuickStart
tennis equipment to use as part of their
P.E. curriculum.
