Stretching. Everyone has been told at least once that they need to do it more. Whether it is for pain, injury prevention, lack of flexibility, etc. it is something on which everyone as an opinion. Some people stretch all of the time but continue to get injured, while others never stretch yet seem to be healthy all of the time. So what is the deal? All in all, stretching is probably one of the most commonly misunderstood aspects of exercise and rehab. As a physical therapist with a heavy neuroscience background and a specialty in tennis performance, I wanted to shed some light on the topic and delve a little bit into the science behind it.
