Try Play is a learn-by-doing class that teaches beginning adult players how to play a match. Try Play focuses less on technique and more on positioning, strategy and scoring. This class is perfect for players who have taken Try Tennis or those returning to tennis after an extended period. Cost: $30.

Try Play is offered at several locations throughout the Raleigh area:

Try Tennis is an instructional tennis program for beginners. The class is designed for people who have never played tennis before.

Once on the court, a tennis coach will work with you to learn enough basic skills to play a beginner match. Your $40 registration fee includes: 6 hours of tennis instruction, a Head tennis racket and a TryTennis t-shirt. Get ready to go from “Couch to Court in six weeks”.

Try League

Our first-ever Try League for beginning players has recently come to an end and will begin again in September 2019 with a whole new group of beginning players. To form or join a Try League team in 2019, email TryTennis@RaleighTennis.com.

The RTA and our community partners offer opportunities for anyone with an interest in tennis to get involved. For the beginner who has never played, we recommend Try Tennis. With a small investment, you can go from couch to court in a few short weeks.  If you're ready to learn how to play a match, Try Play is your next step. When you want to dip your toe into tournament play, Try Tournament will give you the opportunity to spend a few hours playing against players of similar skill level. If you really get excited about tennis or want to refresh your middle school or high school tennis skills, then Try League will give you the option of competing in a fun, social league designed for beginners only. We hope you'll become as passionate about tennis as we are.
