Try Play is a fun community program offered as a follow-up to Try Tennis. It is a play to learn program that helps beginning adult players take the next step in learning match play. This program is perfect for past Try Tennis participants as well as beginner players rated 2.5 or below.  


$30 registration includes an RTA gift. Try Play is a six week program featuring three courts of tennis (1 singles & 2 doubles or some variation). Teams are formed after registration closes.

Try Tennis is an instructional tennis program for beginners. The goal of this program is to attract people who have never played tennis before!

Once on the court, a tennis pro, or other instructor, will work with these individuals. Over the course of six weeks, participants will learn enough basic skills to play a beginner match. Your $40 registration fee includes: tennis instruction, Head tennis racket and a TryTennis t-shirt. Adult sessions listed below.

Try League



Did you have fun with TryTennis or TryPlay? Not ready yet to commit to TryTournament? We have the solution! TryLeague is a quick and easy social league with an 8 match season. Don't worry if you haven't kept up with the people you played tennis with before - we're happy to match you with a team. Meet other beginners in your neighborhood and build a network of new friends through tennis!

Format:

  • 2 lighted courts are needed
  • Four courts of doubles.
  • Each match is an 8 game pro set with no-ad scoring. At 7 games all, the players play a five point tie break. (First to 5 / win by 1).
  • Age: 18+
  • NTRP level: 2.0/2.5 (Don't know what NTRP is? If you just started playing you are a 2.0.) 
  • Rain make-ups are optional (at the discretion of the teams)


Location:  Raleigh neighborhoods who register a team and city courts

Dates/Times:  Sundays 6:30 - 8:00 pm / September 9 – October 28, 2018 (8 matches)

Fees: $22 per person (court fees of $5 per hour per court apply for teams using city courts for home matches)

RTA offers many opportunities for beginner players to try tennis.  Try Tennis is a great way for beginner players to go from the couch to the court in 6 sessions.  Registration includes a racquet, shirt and 6 sessions.  Try Play is a fun community program that is offered as a follow-up to Try Tennis. It is a play to learn program that helps beginning adult players take the next step in learning how to play a match. This program is perfect for past Try Tennis participants as well as beginner players rated 2.5 or below. Try Tournament gives more match experience to new players and also exposes them to tournament play.
