About the RTA
The Raleigh Tennis Association (“RTA”) serves as the primary resource for all things tennis in the greater Raleigh, NC area. The RTA is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and operates under the guidance of the United States Tennis Association ("USTA") and in conjunction with North Carolina Tennis Association ("NCTA").

Our Mission and Goals:

The Raleigh Tennis Association is driven to bring tennis to everyone by inspiring and empowering players of all skill levels to build vibrant and inclusive tennis communities.

Programming: Establish new player initiatives, coordinate social and competitive leagues, host tournaments across all levels, organize events, and provide resources.

Collaboration: Build and manage relationships with area tennis providers and facilities in order to further the growth of tennis.

Funding: Raise and distribute funds throughout the greater Raleigh community in order to create opportunities on and off the tennis court.

Diversity & Inclusion: Ensure equitable access to RTA services as well as the opportunity for fair & respectful participation for all.

Outreach: Create initiatives that empower every player or prospective player to join our tennis community.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
GROWTH DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Raleigh Tennis Association (RTA) is seeking a Growth Development Coordinator. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about expanding tennis in Raleigh and the surrounding areas, particularly by introducing the sport to new players.
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: $30,000/year (based on 30 hours per week)
Role Overview
The Growth Development Coordinator will promote tennis, increase community exposure, and ensure high-quality customer service. Reporting to the RTA Executive Director, this individual will collaborate with community leaders, USTA NC staff, and Parks and Recreation representatives to uphold USTA standards and branding.
Key Objectives
- Program Growth: Implement and promote initiatives such as the Try Tennis Pathway, Rusty Rackets, and various clinic series.
- League Support: Assist with the implementation of RTA/USTA Leagues.
- Strategic Development: Expand tennis initiatives through regular strategy meetings with the Executive Director.
- Communication Management: Manage participant inquiries and provide timely updates regarding clinics and weather cancellations.
Areas of Responsibility
- Coordinating all aspects of the Try Tennis Pathway (Try Tennis, Try Play, Try Match, and Rusty Rackets).
- Submitting Try Tennis Pathway applications to NC Tennis for approval.
- Updating session dates and relevant information on the RTA website.
- Communicating enthusiastically with registered and potential players.
- Tracking registrations and providing progress updates and newsletter content to the Executive Director.
- Maintaining inventory of equipment (racquets, towels, balls, etc.) and requesting supplies from NC Tennis.
- Hiring coaches and ensuring all junior coaches are Safe Play certified with background checks.
- Creating Documents of Understanding for service providers.
- Submitting instructor timesheets to the RTA Treasurer/Bookkeeper.
- Reconciling payout reports from NC Tennis with RTA records.
- Encouraging player progression into Leagues and Tournaments.
- Managing alternate opportunities (Cardio Tennis, Serve it Up, etc.) and selected events as needed.
Qualifications
- Excellent leadership, managment, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and resolve issues diplomatically.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Sheets.
- Strong tennis background is essential; USTA League experience is helpful.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.

SOCIAL MEDIA PAID INTERNSHIP
Raleigh Tennis Association (RTA) is looking for an enthusiastic social media and marketing intern to join our orgnaization and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will develop and implement branding, social media and marketing strategies to achieve brand/name recognition, expand our presence in the community, promote events, and provide valuable tennis related content to the public via our website and social media outlets. Our objective is to implement new, groundbreaking ideas to create an organization that sets the ultimate standard in our industry and the communities we serve. Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related field.
- Passion for tennis!
- Strong familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and X, with an understanding of platform-specific trends.
- Creative mindset with the ability to translate tennis trends into engaging content.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote and collaborative environment.
- Experience with video editing, graphic design, or social media management tools (e.g., Wix) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Growth Development Coordinator and Marketing Committee team in executing trend-driven content and digital storytelling across global platforms.
- Develop and publish social-first content for TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, and Reddit.
- Brainstorm creative ideas for short-form videos, memes, and platform-native formats.
- Support the production of tennis clips, creator highlights, and community spotlights.
- Monitor community conversations to identify opportunities for reactive engagement.
- Ensure all content aligns with the RTA brand voice and a tennis approach.
- Work up to 3-5 hours a week. Some months will be have heavier posts than others.

Structure
A team of professional staff led by Kim Roberts, Executive Director, executes the mission of the RTA and oversees daily operations. A Board of Directors guides the direction of the RTA and implements policies. Board positions include President/Chairman, Executive Vice President, Immediate Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, and two members at large. The RTA Board includes the following committees:
