Celebrating a New Chapter for Raleigh Tennis: Biltmore Hills Groundbreaking

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Raleigh tennis community gathered at Biltmore Hills Park to mark a significant milestone in our city’s recreational landscape. We were thrilled to join City officials—including Kelly Gaines, Ted Reese, Raleigh City Council Member Corey Branch, LaTonya Hargrove, and Keisha Price—to officially break ground on the long-awaited Biltmore Hills Tennis Improvements project.

Approved by Raleigh voters in the 2022 Parks Bond Referendum, this project is a critical investment in the future of tennis in Southeast Raleigh. The expansion will breathe new life into our park facilities, ensuring that our public spaces remain resilient, accessible, and inclusive for players of all ages and skill levels.

The project scope is impressive and will transform Biltmore Hills into a premier hub for the region:

  • Expansion: The addition of eight new tennis courts.

  • Upgrades: Planned enhancements include modern lighting, improved accessibility features, site amenities, and stormwater improvements.

  • Infrastructure: Reconfigured parking and EV charging stations.

This project truly reflects the spirit of our community. We are especially grateful to the City of Raleigh for their commitment to equitable park access and to the USTA for their generous support, including a recent $200,000 grant from USTA National and additional support from USTA Southern. These "Raise the Net" funds are vital to maintaining the high standard of our public courts.

As the Raleigh tennis community continues to grow—demonstrated by our strong league participation and competitive success—the demand for high-quality facilities has never been greater. We look forward to the day these gates open and we can welcome new players and seasoned veterans alike to enjoy these state-of-the-art facilities.

Construction is officially underway, and while we will miss the courts during this period, we know that the result will be worth the wait when the facility reopens in 2027. We are honored to be a part of this journey as we continue to grow the game we all love.

Thank you to everyone who supported this bond referendum and advocated for our parks. Let’s keep the momentum going!
