Dragged to community tennis courts by his father, Jason Kinder never would have guessed that he’d have a future in tennis. And a big future at that! After growing up in Richmond, VA, he attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro, playing on the Men’s Tennis team from 1989 - 2003. During that time, he was named to the 2003 Big South All Conference Team.
Jason is certified by the USPTA as an Elite Coach, a USTA High Performance Coach, a Certified Tennis Performance Specialist (ITPA) and a Padel Professional. In 2009, he was a USTA 5.0 and Over National Champion. Jason has worked in the tennis industry for more than 33 years! Most recently, he served as the Senior Operations Manager for the USTA National Tennis Campus in Orlando, Florida.
Now in Raleigh, serving as the Director of Tennis at the North Hills Club (NHC), Jason oversees the entire tennis operation which includes handling adult and junior programming, Pro Team, Member Service Team, and Maintenance Team. Excited to be a part of a “great tennis club with a passionate membership,” Jason looks forward to helping the tennis community grow. And, as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he plans to do just that.
Established in 1961, the NHC started as a small neighborhood tennis and swim club. Since then, it has become a large, successful operation. With twenty-two lighted outdoor courts (eighteen clay, four hard courts) and hard court colors (Miami Open Laykold) for high visibility, the NHC provides the best place for evening play and stage for competition. In addition, NHC has a Robust fitness component with state-of-the-art equipment, three pools with diving boards and slides, a large ballroom for events, and a bar and restaurant. The North Hills Club support of tennis in the Raleigh community has been instrumental in its growth of tennis over the years. In 2021 alone, NHC has hosted 116 teams so their members can participate in USTA Leagues in Raleigh!
Jason joins NHC in their active support of the Raleigh tennis community. He foresees a promising future for the community partnership.
“I see NHC collaborating with the RTA starting in 2022 to offer community events that will continue to help grow tennis in our area.”
